Flower-a-thon, a fundraiser organized by Western Wildllife Corridor, is a great chance to get out into the forest to enjoy the wonders of spring. It is similar to a walk or bird-a-thon where individuals or teams of individuals count the number of wildflower species seen in a day. Each counter solicits pledges from friends, relatives, neighbors, businesses or corporations for each wildflower species found during that day.

All Flower-a-thon team members will receive a free breakfast, valuable prizes and dinner at our banquet at EarthConnection. Teams also have a chance to win the coveted Golden Trillium Award for the most species of wild flowers identified.

Invasive alien plants are threatening the very existence and diversity of our native plant communities. At this hands-on workshop, which is a followup to our forum on February 25, you will see a demonstration on how to effectively remove them to creat a more natural habitat. You will have a chance to get down and dirty yourself trying out techniques to remove such invasive aliens as amur honeysuckle and garlic mustard. We will meet for this at Sharon Woods Centre, 11450 Lebanon Road, Sharonville Ohio.  Contact Tim Sisson at 513 922 2104 or tsisson@fuse.net for additional information.
