Organization: REI & Civic Garden Center

Trees matter a lot, so the Civic Garden Center has jumped into the global movement to restore our urban forests and expand our usable urban greenspace through its new Treeforestation initiative. Research has shown interacting with the natural world can be tremendously beneficial for our well-being. Whether it's simply the calming effect of blues and greens or the heart-soothing phytochemicals exuded by plants, interacting with nature is a curative to many of our urban woes. With our forests facing unprecedented risks from disease, invasive species, and human development, trees are increasingly vital. That's why the Civic Garden Center is so excited to play its part in the global movement to restore deforested and degraded land - to revitalize these landscapes for people and the planet. We invite you to join us at REI to learn about and support the Treeforestation Initiative, and get info about organizing or joining a volunteer workday.
