Great Parks Seeks Feedback on Proposed Accessible Canoe/Kayak Launch Project

Great Parks of Hamilton County is hosting a public input meeting to introduce a proposed project of an accessible canoe/kayak launch at Winton Woods’ lake.

Great Parks installed an accessible canoe/kayak launch at Miami Whitewater Forest in 2016, which enables park guests of all abilities to enjoy the lake more easily, safely and independently. The launch consists of a floating dock equipped with a “Universally Accessible Transfer System” that allows an unassisted individual with a physical disability to access a canoe or kayak. Now, the park district wants input from the communities surrounding Winton Woods to gauge interest on a similar boat launch at Winton Lake.

This open-house style meeting is an opportunity for the public to view and comment on preliminary plans for the project. Great Parks employees will be available to answer questions.

Winton Centre is located in Winton Woods at 10245 Winton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231. Parking is free and convenient, and the building is located along Metro bus routes 14X, 20 and 23X. Individuals who may require interpretation services or a reasonable accommodation to participate in this meeting should contact Great Parks no later than 14 calendar days prior to the open house at 513-521-7275, Voice/TDD. Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, sex, age, national origin or disability.
