Outdoor Accessibility for All

  • April 13, 2019
  • 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Withrow Nature Preserve, 7075 Five Mile Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45230

Organization: REI

Everyone, regardless of ability or skill level should have access to the outdoors. Hiking, weather, and the fear of the unknown can be intimidating and unsettling, especially for those who have social, physical, and mental differences and disabilities. We believe that those differences should not prevent anyone from enjoying the significant health benefits the outdoors has to offer. Guided by the belief that every person has ability and value, LADD empowers adults with developmental disabilities to live, work, and connect. LADD and REI are partnering to offer this programming as an on-ramp to getting outside! We welcome everyone to learn basic skills and to interact with the outdoors at your own level. All abilities encouraged. Come find out what you're missing!

For April's adventure, we'll meet at Withrow Nature Preserve and explore the eastern mile of the Trout Lily Trail looking for spring wildflowers. The trail is flat and even, but unpaved and likely to be wet. Wear shoes you will not mind getting muddy plus layers appropriate for the weather, including a rain jacket. Bring a water bottle. You will need a Great Parks motor vehicle pass to park, if you cannot obtain one on your own click on the Parking Pass Help link below after you register.
