Candidate Education Night: Sustainable Action in Cincinnati

Green Umbrella, in partnership with the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund, presents an educational event about sustainability action and policy in Cincinnati for candidates running for local office. Local sustainability leaders will educate candidates about the Green Cincinnati Plan (GCP), the city’s guidebook for reducing its climate footprint and improving our community’s resiliency and environmental equity and quality. By understanding the history and current goals of the Green Cincinnati Plan, candidates can develop platforms that are in alignment with the strategies identified by the community through the GCP process.

Candidates will learn about the City’s green goals, where resources and champions are needed for continued progress, and how to support community engagement for and design of the next iteration of the GCP in 2023. The event is open to all confirmed candidates running for Cincinnati City Council or Mayor. Candidates are also welcome to register campaign staff as guests.

Candidates will be encouraged to develop detailed sustainability platforms to share at public forums in summer 2021 for Mayoral and early fall 2021 for Council candidates. Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund staff are available to offer support to candidates in crafting their platforms prior to the forums.
