Arbor Day in Cincinnati” is Friday April 29th at the Hays-Porter school in West End. The Mayoral Proclamation and tree planting ceremony will begin at 10 AM at the schools’ garden off Mound St. After conclusion of the ceremony, students and community volunteers will begin planting 29 trees along John St and Clark St., expected to conclude at noon.
This event represents the continuation of the highly successful efforts of Cincinnati Parks Urban Forestry Program, community volunteers, The Cincinnati Parks Foundation, MadTree Brewing, and many others to increase the City of Cincinnati’s overall tree canopy 5% from 38% to 43% over the last 5 years. This is important because planting trees is a widely effective strategy used to improve air quality, reduce heat islands, and address flooding issues throughout the city.
No registration is required, all that is needed from you is to show up ready to plant a tree!
