Join our team: We're hiring a Development Coordinator!

Happy 2022! While this new year brings plenty of uncertainty, I am hopeful about all the possibilities for action in the coming year to make our region more sustainable and resilient for all. The City of Cincinnati's new leadership is focused on climate, equity and environment, and Green Umbrella is expanding its efforts across the region to support local governments, no matter their size or staff capacity to address these crucial priorities. So stay connected with us as we collaborate around shared goals to support an even broader swath of our region.

- Ryan Mooney-Bullock, Green Umbrella Executive Director

Sustainability Spotlights

Green Umbrella Welcomes Erin Rothfuss as Operations Director

Green Umbrella welcomes Erin Rothfuss to the staff as our first Operations Director. Erin will oversee the administrative functions of Green Umbrella to ensure that the organization's programs have access to the support they need to tell their story, administer grants, raise funds, recruit members and coordinate events. She comes to us as a seasoned operations professional from the assisted living sector. Erin will supervise the Communications and Development Coordinators we are in the process of hiring, as well as some of our existing admin team, whose roles are narrowing. Charlie Gonzalez will focus on Events and Member Relations and Kat Schlenker on Finance.

Resident Climate Advisors Present Bond Hill & Roselawn Resilience Plan

In December, Green Umbrella, Groundwork Ohio River Valley and the City of Cincinnati hosted the final meeting of the Bond Hill and Roselawn Climate Advisory Group. The event included a presentation by group members on climate change in their neighborhood, an overview of the Bond Hill and Roselawn Resilience Plan,

and their recommendations for the city. Neighborhood residents and neighbors, community organizations and city officials attended - including Councilmember-Elect Meeka Owens, the incoming chair of the city's Climate, Environment, & Infrastructure Committee. Watch the recording and learn more about the Climate Safe Neighborhoods program.

Sustainability Summit: Call for Artists & Speakers

The 2022 Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit will be an in-person, hybrid event on June 16. This year's theme will explore Emergent Strategies for an Equitable, Climate Prepared Region, covering topics that include healthy and resilient communities, business and circular economy, government and policy, high-performing infrastructure, transportation, regional food security, emergency preparedness and climate justice.

We are currently accepting proposals for speakers, panel discussions, interactive workshops, field trips - and art submissions!

We are excited to integrate the creative arts (visual arts, spoken word and performance) into this year's event. Learn more and submit your proposal at midwestsustainabilitysummit.org!
