Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit Announces Keynote Speaker

We are thrilled to announce this year's keynote speaker, Dr. Katharine Wilkinson! Dr. Wilkinson is a bestselling author, strategist, and teacher. Her books include the anthology All We Can Save, The Drawdown Review, Drawdown, and Between God & Green. She leads The All We Can Save Project and co-hosts the podcast A Matter of Degrees. Her TED Talk on climate and gender equality has nearly 2 million views, and she has been featured by Time magazine as one of 15 women leading the fight against climate change


Early registration for attendees & exhibitors is open now.


We are accepting proposals to participate in the Summit through January 31. You can submit as a speaker at a panel discussion, short talk, or workshopshare a poem or performance; or have a work of visual art displayed at the Summit.


Know someone who has made a difference in the sustainability of our region? Nominate an individual, business, organization, or community for a Summit Award! Nominations are due by January 31.

Faith Communities Go Green Hosts Virtual Workshop on Installing Solar

Faith Communities Go Green invites you to join them virtually for a free workshop from 7:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 31 to discuss implementing solar into your house of worship. 


This is an opportunity to learn how three individuals successfully installed solar, including: how much it cost & how to finance it; when to expect to see the return on investment, as well as estimated reduction of CO2 emissions; and how they achieved agreement & support from members & congregation leaders.

Professional Development Opportunities

You're invited to participate in the 10th Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit on May 12! We are currently seeking proposals for panel discussions, interactive workshops, five-minute short talks, and visual & performance art submissions that open our minds and hearts that address the Summit's theme of "Imagine What's Possible" across a variety of climate-related issue areas. Submissions close January 31.

The Cincinnati Nature Center is offering a self-paced online course, The Ripple Effect, that discusses how using your voice can create positive change for people and nature. Preregistration is required by January 18.

USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) is providing $200M in assistance to producers for obtaining or renewing a food safety certification in calendar years 2022 and 2023. The application deadline is January 31, 2023.

The Civic Garden Center is hosting a 11 week Community Garden Development Training Wednesday evenings (6:00-8:00pm) from January through April and are free to anyone interested. 

Cincinnati Permaculture Institute is offering an accelerated-format Permaculture Design Course over five weekends (from 2/18 to 3/19). Discounted early registration is open through 1/31.

The 2023 OEFFA Conference will take place February 16-18, with more than 50 sustainable food and farming workshops, an exhibitor hall, and networking.

The Indiana Sustainability & Resilience Conference will take place on February 17 and feature speakers, panels, exhibits, trainings, and networking opportunities for climate and resilience advocates.

Miami University & the Cincinnati Zoo are accepting applications through February 28 for their 2023 Advanced Inquiry master's degree program (begins May 2023).
