Local Organizations Discuss Climate Justice With Congress Staff

Groundwork Ohio River Valley, Green Umbrella, Ohio Environmental Council, and Community Learning Center Institute recently attended a briefing at the Oyler House in Lower Price Hill with Senator Sherrod Brown's Southwest Ohio Regional Director, Joyce Frazier-Powdrill. They shared how frontline communities are being centered in neighborhood to regional level climate action work. They discussed the Climate Safe Neighborhoods Partnership between Groundwork and Green Umbrella, the Regional Climate Collaborative, and more.

Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop with Common Orchard Project

Join us at Camp Washington Perennial Farm for a hands-on workshop in grafting fruit trees. Participants will receive instruction in the different techniques for grafting Apple and Pear fruit trees from Chris Smyth from the Common Orchard Project in collaboration with the Turner Farm Community Garden Program. The rootstock, scionwood and tools needed to graft your own fruit trees will be provided, but feel free to bring your own grafting knife. Participants will leave with several newly grafted fruit trees to plant at home or in community gardens. Space is limited and registration is required.

Welcome New AmeriCorps Vista

We're excited to welcome a new member to the Green Umbrella team! Jack is serving through AmeriCorps VISTA by building internal capacity to strengthen the operations of the Common Orchard Project. Jack is currently in his last semester at the University of Cincinnati and is expected to receive a Bachelor of Urban Planning with a certificate in Permaculture Design this spring. He is passionate about connecting with communities and empowering their members to be active participants in shaping their social and urban fabric.
