Food System Stories Amplify Community Voices & Experiences

This week, the Greater Cincinnati Regional Food Policy Council launched a community-driven storytelling project about experiences in our regional food system, called Food System Stories. Starting with the Community Advisory Board of our Community Voices in Food Movement project, the series captures videos, images, and words to spotlight what residents of our neighborhoods do to feed themselves and their families. If you have a story to tell, get in touch with our Food Systems Analyst, Maddie Chera, at

Explore Our Greenspace Gems During Great Outdoor Weekend

In advance of this year's Great Outdoor Weekend, September 25-26, we are releasing a new batch of five Greenspace Gems. The collection now includes 40 protected natural areas of outstanding biodiversity and scenic value across Greater Cincinnati. Find your adventure among the 100+ free activities being hosted during Great Outdoor Weekend, or explore our 40 Greenspace Gems and 570+ miles of trails.

This month's featured gem is Miami Fort Woodland. The major feature of Shawnee Lookout Park is Miami Fort, a hilltop earthen enclosure built by Hopewell people about 2,000 years

ago. The 12-acre earthwork is located near the end of a peninsula situated 300 feet above the confluence of the Great Miami and Ohio Rivers. The slopes below the walls of the fort support rich stands of old-growth forest. The 2,430-acre property offers about 5 miles of trails, with views over the rivers.
