CPS Outside is Developing Outdoor Learning Opportunities This Fall

CPS Outside, one of Green Umbrella's Impact Teams, is supporting Cincinnati Public Schools in engaging ALL of its students in outdoor learning and activity. Throughout the shift to remote learning, the team has been providing opportunities to get students outside: through video content, camps, resources for families and lesson ideas for teachers.

This Fall they are developing virtual field trips and partnering with district curriculum leads to design time outside into remote learning plans. Members of the network (which include public agencies, businesses and dozens of non-profits) will be visiting school campuses this fall to assess opportunities for outdoor learning spaces and walking teachers through what time outside could look like. Stay tuned for more news on how you can support or contact to get involved.

Tri-State Trails Releases Active Transportation Policy Platform

In an effort to make key issues around walking and biking more prominent in the election, Tri-State Trails has developed our region's first Active Transportation Policy PlatformThe platform compiles policies and practices recommended to make walking and biking for transportation safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.

The goal is to educate candidates for elected office about what needs to happen for regional systems-level change to occur, and empower them to be change makers in their communities. We invite candidates running for elected office to adopt these ideas, policies, and projects into their platform.

Green Umbrella Launches Interfaith Impact Team

On Monday, September 14, Green Umbrella’s newest impact team, Faith Communities Go Green, welcomed 31 participants at its first meeting. With a mission of partnering with religious communities to lead in creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all, the team represents a wide variety of faith backgrounds. In order to achieve that mission, the team will divide into four sub-committees: worship and education, lifestyle changes,

facilities improvement and advocacy. Prior to launching, a steering committee led by co-chairs Joanne Gerson and James Buchanan, worked for several months to lay much of the team’s foundation. If you’re interested in learning more about the impact team, contact
